MSU Looks For Better Play in Valley Finish
With four games left in the 2022-23 season, the Racers go for sweep of the Redbirds from Illinois State tonight at Redbird Arena in Normal, Ill. The Racers enter the game on a three-game losing skid, which has them searching for answers in the final four games of the regular season. With losses at Indiana State and Bradley, plus a home defeat to Drake, the Racers have taken on three of the top teams in The Valley and have taken their lumps. In the three losses, the Racers are hitting only 35 percent from the field and 32 percent from the 3-point line, while opponents are hitting at 56 percent and 50 percent. MSU has shown flashes of the team that had defeated Missouri State and Belmont prior to the slump, but not enough to overcome three excellent teams. With games remaining at Illinois State and Missouri State and home games with Evansville and Valparaiso, the Racers are up against teams they have already defeated this season.
