Man arrested on strangulation, assault charges

A woman had to be hospitalized Sunday after the father of her children allegedly punched her several times and choked her with a seat belt.

An arrest citation for 62-year old Mario Blount of Hopkinsville says the victim had dried blood on her lip and her eyeballs were red from where Blount had punched her and then tightened the seat belt around her throat, cutting off her airway.

The 46-year old woman was treated for her injuries at Jennie Stuart Health, according to the report.

Blount is charged with first-degree strangulation and assault in the fourth-degree (domestic violence).
