The Pennyrile Area Development District Board of Directors heard an update from the Kentucky Education and Labor Cabinet Monday and approved a revolving loan fund agreement for a local business expansion.
Beth Brinley is a deputy secretary for the cabinet and reminded the board of Tuesday’s Office of Broadband Development listening tour stop at the PADD office in Hopkinsville from 1 until 3 p.m., as that group looks to understand Kentucky’s strengths and weaknesses when it comes to broadband internet access.
Brinley also talked about the cabinet’s efforts to help incarcerated Kentuckians find employment they can go to the first day they are released in hopes of a more successful transition.
The Board approved $244,000 to go from the PADD Revolving Loan Fund to Casey Jones Distillery, with Associate Director Amy Frogue saying they will use the funds to go toward costs of their expansion project.
The loan will be for a term of 10 years at an interest rate of 4-percent.
