Woman arrested on drug trafficking charges

A traffic stop by Hopkinsville police on North Jessup Street Tuesday night led to the arrest of a woman on drug trafficking and other charges.

An officer stopped 39-year old Miriah Andrews of Hopkinsville for her license plate not being illuminated shortly after 8 p.m. and an arrest citation says a computer check showed the tag to be expired.

Police say she was observed moving around in the car before the officer got out of his cruiser and a search of her car allegedly revealed a small baggie of a white powdery substance, a glass pipe and a marijuana cigarette.

Andrews was arrested and a search of her person at the Christian County Jail allegedly turned up a plastic bag inside her clothing containing prescription painkillers, a crystal substance and a small baggie of blue pills believed to be fentanyl.

Andrews is charged with trafficking in fentanyl, trafficking in a controlled substance, promoting contraband, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, driving with expired tags and improper display of tags.
