Three injured in I-24 crash

Three people were injured in an accident involving a tractor-trailer and two other motor vehicles Monday morning on I-24 near Oak Grove in Christian County.

Christian County Emergency Management Director Randy Graham says all three patients were from one of the passenger vehicles.

Sheriff’s Deputy Andy Sanderson says it happened shortly before 5:30 a.m. when the driver of an eastbound car swerved to miss a deer near the 87 mile-marker and struck the cable median barrier, causing the vehicle to spin.

A semi behind that car swerved to miss the car and stopped in the emergency lane.

The driver of a pickup pulling a trailer behind the wreck swerved, but was unable to avoid the car that came to a stop in the left lane. The pickup then crashed into the tractor-trailer before coming to a stop.

All three patients were taken by EMS to Jennie Stuart Medical Center, according to Hopkinsville Fire Department Lt. Payton Rogers.

Names of those involved have not been released.

One lane remains closed near the 87 mile-marker of I-24.
