A plea deal was reached Wednesday morning in Christian Circuit Court for one of the men charged in connection with an armed home invasion at the Glass Avenue residence of Charles “Bird Dog” Paige.
Twenty-year-old Isaiah Campbell entered an Alford plea to second-degree robbery, second-degree assault and felony theft by unlawful taking as part of a deal that comes with a 10-year total sentence.
An Alford plea allows a defendant to not admit guilt, while acknowledging there’s likely enough evidence for a conviction if the case were to go to trial.
The assault charge was for an August 2 incident at the Christian County Jail where Campbell and two other men attacked another inmate by kicking and punching him while he was curled up on the floor, giving him a concussion.
All five home invasion suspects—Campbell, Korey Zivotin, Michael Sims, Ajaizion Johnson and Marshall Austin—were indicted for first-degree robbery last year. They are accused of entering the home of Paige on June 16 while brandishing a firearm with the intent to commit a robbery. Gunfire was exchanged between the suspects and Paige, with no one injured in the incident. The suspects are also accused of conducting reconnaissance and planning before the home invasion occurred.
Final sentencing was scheduled for March 29 at 8:30.
