Charles Petty retiring, makes final Early Bird appearance for Ky. American Seeds

After nearly 50 years of appearing on the WHOP Early Bird Show, Charles Petty made his final appearance representing Kentucky American Seed Monday morning.

Petty says he began his appearances on the historic radio show in 1975 on behalf of Agri Chem and he forged a strong relationship with the late Col. Dink Embry.

Petty founded Kentucky American Seed on Means Avenue in 1987 and it moved to its current location on the Bypass several years ago. He’s retiring this week and his final duties will be appearing at an open house Thursday.

He’s continued to do his spots on the Early Bird Show live, in recent years on Mondays and Fridays, and concludes each one with his ‘thought of the day.’

That Kentucky American Seed open house will be from 8 until 11 a.m. Thursday at their 3560 Eagle Way Bypass location.
