(Undated) — Memphis cruised past Tulsa 80-68 in college basketball action. The Tigers are now 17-and-5 and will host Tulane next weekend. Kentucky fell to ninth-ranked Kansas 77-68 over the weekend. The Wildcats dropped to 14-and-7 and will head to Ole Miss tomorrow night. Vanderbilt lost to Texas A-and-M 72-66. The Commodores are now 10-and-11 and will travel to second-ranked Alabama tomorrow. Number-4 Tennessee won its fourth straight game after beating 10th-ranked Texas 82-71. The Vols improved to 18-and-3 and will head to Florida on Wednesday. Louisville lost its 10th game in a row following a 76-62 defeat to Notre Dame. The Cardinals are now 2-and-19 and will host Georgia Tech on Wednesday.
Kentucky Blasts Missouri on Sunday
Four players scored in double figures on Sunday as the Kentucky women’s basketball team thumped Missouri 77-53 inside Memorial Coliseum. Sophomore guard Jada Walker paced the Cats with 18 points while adding five assists. Walker had plenty of help from her teammates on Sunday. Blair Green had 14 points and five rebounds for UK, while Maddie Scherr had 13 points, eight assists, five rebounds, three steals and a blocked shot. Robyn Benton also scored 13 for the Cats. Kentucky (10-10, 2-7 SEC) used its pressure defense to force Missouri into 22 turnovers in the game and the Cats turned those miscues into 28 points. Meanwhile, the Cats turned it over just 13 times and Missouri turned those mistakes into just eight points.
Cardinals Sprint Past Orange, 79-67
The University of Louisville women’s basketball team bounced back with a 79-67 win over Syracuse Sunday afternoon at the JMA Wireless Dome. After trailing by two at the half, the Cardinals used a big third quarter to jump back in front and did not look back as they won their seventh road game of the season. The win stopped a two-game losing streak and gave the Cardinals their seventh ACC win of the season. Nyla Harris led the Cardinals with a career high 18 points and three blocks to go with six rebounds. Mykasa Robinson had a career-high 12 assists and tied a career high with five steals to go with seven points, seven rebounds and zero turnovers. The 12 assists were the most by a Cardinal player in a game since 2015. She is the only player in the NCAA this season to have 12 or more assists and zero turnovers in a single game. As a team, Louisville had a season-high 25 assists on 31 made baskets. Chrislyn Carr had 14 points and season highs with eight assists and five steals. Liz Dixon was also in double figures with 11 points and she tied a season high with three blocks. It was a new starting lineup for the Cardinals as Norika Konno and Harris earned their first career starts. Robinson was also in the starting lineup for the fourth time this season.
Burpo, Turley Reach Milestones as Racers Fall
The Murray State women’s basketball team fell to Indiana State, 62-56, Sunday at the Hulman Center in Terre Haute. Macey Turley became just the third Racer in program history to reach 500 assists Sunday. Her six assists against Indiana State puts her currently at 505 for her career and just eight away from becoming the program’s all-time leader in the category. Alexis Burpo also reached a milestone Sunday by becoming the eighth racer in the history of the program to reach 800 career rebounds. With five rebounds against the Sycamores, Burpo now has 803 career rebounds.
