Winter weather could make a return to Western Kentucky Monday night, as there is a chance freezing rain may cause some travel issues in the region.
The National Weather Service in Paducah says it appears there won’t be enough ice to cause any power disruptions, but it only takes a light glaze of freezing rain to cause major issues on roads.
The current forecast calls for less than a tenth of an inch of ice accumulation Monday night and early Tuesday morning.
The ice could be short-lived if the temperature is able to nudge above the freezing mark on Tuesday.
There’s another chance for a wintry mix and perhaps another glaze of ice Wednesday night, but it’s expected to be a little warmer then and the southern Pennyrile region may be able to avoid the worst of that event—though residents should keep an eye on the forecast in the coming days.
