Congressman James Comer believes his new role as House Oversight Committee chair will benefit Western Kentucky a great deal and says the oversight of solar farms in the region is mostly a local issue during an interview that airs Sunday morning on WHOP.
Comer became chair of that important committee when Republicans took control of the House and he says it’s given him greater sway with federal agencies and other lawmakers.
Regarding solar farms, Comer says he’s heard from a lot of constituents and while he’s sympathetic to concerns of adjoining landowners to proposed projects, he believes most of the oversight will be done by local government agencies with zoning-type ordinances.
Christian, Todd and Logan County fiscal courts have recently approved their own ordinances restricting where developers can build solar farms.
