Jackson formally sentenced, granted probation in 2019 fatal crash

Robert Jackson, the man who recently entered a guilty plea in connection with a 2019 fatal crash on Princeton Road, was formally sentenced in Christian Circuit Court Wednesday.

Jackson pled guilty to reckless homicide and three counts of wanton endangerment, along with some traffic violations, for his role in the crash that resulted in the deaths of 32-year-old Misty Quarles and 11-year-old Alexia Trump. Jackson himself says he feels regret and remorse every day for the accident.

His lawyer, Olivia Adams, requested probation on his behalf, saying Jackson has abided by every restriction and rule set by the court, after already spending a good amount of time in jail and on an ankle monitor awaiting proceedings on this case.

The Commonwealth had no position on probation and the plea came with a recommended five-year sentence. Judge Andrew Self granted probation, saying it’s his judgement that this truly was a tragic accident and there was never any indication that Jackson was under the influence at the time of collision.

Jackson was traveling south on Princeton Road about three and a half miles north of the Eagle Way Bypass in Christian County on December 23, 2019 when he crossed the center line and collided head-on with a vehicle driven by Quarles. Quarles and Trump, who was a passenger, would die of their injuries, while two other passengers were taken to Vanderbilt for treatment.

Jackson himself was badly injured in the crash.
