Mayor Knight talks priorities for city

New Hopkinsville Mayor J.R. Knight says he’ll continue to work on issues that have been priorities for the city for decades.

In a recent appearance on WHOP, Mayor Knight noted that anyone who drives around the city knows homelessness is a major issue and finding a solution will be very difficult.

Brining more Fort Campbell families to live in Hopkinsville has been a priority of every city administration for generations and Mayor Knight believes the right people are in place to help encourage the left turn from the Army post.

He says Public Works is addressing problems with city streets and they’re keeping a list of state highways in the city that are very much in need of improvements and making them known to the Transportation Cabinet.

Mayor Knight says his administration is working on a budget for the next fiscal year and will present a proposal to city council this spring.
