Back on December 10th it was a 72-60 win for the Lady Colonels over at Hopkinsville.
Saturday afternoon on Kerry Stovall Court at Christian County High School, it would not be that close.
A 56-24 win for the Lady Colonels, that score says a whole lot for me.
We reached a running clock with three or so minutes to go in the third quarter and coasted from there, but there are certainly underlying things to discuss.
It was a bad day for the Lady Tigers. I don’t mean that negatively, teams have bad days, and Hoptown had one. After scoring 60 in the first matchup and averaging forty-five plus on the season, it was a rough showing to put up twenty-four.
Shots just weren’t falling, free throws were less than a fifty percent make rate, and the defense struggled to stay in front of the Lady Colonels.
On the other side, Kiki Radford will take a big win, but plenty to discuss with her team.
They shot in the teens, in terms of percentage, in the first half at the charity stripe. They missed second and third chance put backs again and again. It was 29-11 at the half and I assure you it could have and should have been worse.
Neither team seemed to be able to take advantage of the other side having off moments and an off day. The Lady Colonels just found a few more plays.
Anaysia Bagwell was your player of the game. Despite being guarded well, credit to Hoptown, she did find enough to keep her near twenty points per game average going and she recovered well at the FT line in the second half going 4-for-5.
Both schools will have early games next week. Hopkinsville will have a chance to bounce back in a winnable game at Fort Campbell on Monday, while Christian County will head to Davies County on Tuesday.
