The Todd County Clerk’s Office will close for two hours on Tuesday and Thursday mornings beginning in February so the staff can be trained on a new state computer system that will be used to register vehicles.
County Clerk Cindy O’Bryan told Fiscal Court on Friday that they’ll close from 8 until 10 a.m. in February, April, May and June so her staff can learn the new software.
She believes once the staff is trained and utilizing the new system, it’ll be more efficient and better serve their citizens.
Meanwhile, Kirkmansville could have its own voting location again by the May primary, as O’Bryan says she and the Board of Elections will soon travel to Helen’s Home Cooking to determine if that facility is handicapped accessible. They are currently one of three precincts still voting at North Todd Elementary School.
O’Bryan says the county will need to buy new e-poll books for each precinct in the near future and while the state will reimburse the county for that cost, the county will be on the hook to update the software each year.
In other action, magistrates approved a budget amendment to accept a $750,000 grant on behalf of Novelis as they’ve met the necessary thresholds set out by the state regarding growth at their facilities in Guthrie.
