Winners of five of their last six and their last two home games since returning from the Volunteer state; The Colonels entered their game against Henderson County Tuesday night with some confidence, as they should.
That confidence waned though, and came up short in a very tightly played 54-49 loss for Christian County.
The Colonels fought hard, but just could not seem to keep Henderson County off the free throw line. It was at the charity stripe that the Northern Colonels were able to at times maintain and at times extend their lead, and they did both in a timely manner. If Christian County was struggling to score they made their free throws to extend. Then the Colonels would fight back, Henderson County would miss some free throws, and allow Christian County to get within one or two or even tie it or take a one or two point lead. That is when the Northern Colonels would make one or both free throws and settle back in.
Give credit, down the stretch if not for clutch threes by Breland Morrison and Derrell Bateman, this game might not have come down to a final one or two possessions and been over with sooner.
All in all, many good things continued for the Colonels, just have to settle down, refocus, and get set to head out of state again. This time to Indiana to compete in Evansville. Up first, Evansville Central on Friday night.
