Bentzel gives update on bus crash, consolidation

The eight students injured in a school bus accident Monday morning in Crofton are improving nicely and Superintendent Chris Betnzel is praising first responders and the community members who managed that incident.

Bentzel says six of the eight students were already back in school Tuesday and none of the eight victims’ injuries are serious and the district continues to monitor the recovery of the driver.

He says the first responders on scene and Crofton Elementary School administration did a good job of handling the unique situation.

As previously reported, the Christian County Sheriff’s Office says the bus had been southbound when it went off the left shoulder of Old Madisonville Street near KY 800 and crashed.

Meanwhile, Bentzel says the district continues to work on the consolidated high school project and while there’s no specific timetable, he hopes to have the project bid out again within the next six months if conditions are favorable.

Bentzel reminds the State of the Schools Breakfast will be 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 31 at the Bruce Convention Center.
