Accidental shooting in Guthrie sends teen to Vanderbilt hospital

A male in his late teens was severely injured in an apparent accidental shooting from early Saturday morning in Guthrie.

It happened about 3:30 a.m. at a home on Locust Street and the victim was transported to the critical care unit at Vanderbilt University Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the head, according to Guthrie police.

There had reportedly been at least two people in the room handling the gun when the incident happened, with police saying it remains under investigation.

Guthrie Police Sgt. Eric Pinkett was assisted at the scene by the Todd County Sheriff’s Office, EMS and the Rescue Squad.
