There will be a changing of leadership in the Christian County Attorney’s Office, as the new county attorney was sworn in Thursday, and County Attorney John Soyars is set to retire from that position.
Soyars has served as county attorney since 2018, when he stepped into the role after longtime former County Attorney Mike Foster retired—now it’s Soyars turn to pass the torch. He says he’s only retiring from government service, as he fully intends to continue his private practice and still be active in Christian County.
He says he’s had the joy and honor of serving with the best group of lawyers, judges, staff members, victim advocates, and numerous others that keep the justice system running in the county.
Mike Foster was in attendance for a retirement reception held Thursday for Soyars, and he says Soyars has done fantastically by the people and local law enforcement, as he knew he would.
Soyars says he has very few regrets leaving the office, and he knows he’s leaving it in good hands with Lincoln Foster, who has been an assistant county for ten years, four of which were under Soyars himself.
