Cason Wallace Earns SEC Freshman of the Week Honors

Freshman Cason Wallace earned Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week accolades after posting a career-high 27 points in Kentucky’s win over Florida A&M on Wednesday. Wallace produced a stat line of 27 points, a career-high-tying nine assists, four steals and two rebounds in the win for the Wildcats. It pushed UK’s win streak at home to 26 games which ranks as the longest home-winning streak in the conference. Kentucky has dominated the weekly SEC awards with John Calipari at the helm. UK has won more weekly SEC honors (120) than any other school during the Calipari era, including 91 SEC Freshman of the Week awards and 29 SEC Player of the Week honors. Wallace’s honor is the first of the season for the Wildcats.

>>Kentucky at Missouri

When looking at the 2022-23 Kentucky basketball schedule prior to the season, Wednesday’s game at Missouri (7 p.m., SEC Network) might not have been one that was circled on the calendar. But the Tigers have been outstanding this season, making the Cats’ Southeastern Conference opener in Columbia a tough task. Missouri is 11-1 this season and is coming off a 93-71 beatdown of then-No. 16 Illinois last week. Missouri’s only loss this season was against No. 4 Kansas. Pre-Game at 4:30 on 98.7 Lite FM.

Carr Named ACC Player of the Week Following Dominant Performance at DePaul

A late Christmas present was handed out as Louisville guard Chrislyn Carr was named ACC Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon. She had one of the best games of her collegiate career with 21 points and a career-high 17 rebounds in the road win over DePaul. Her 21 points were the most she had scored in a Louisville uniform while the career-high 17 rebounds were the most by a Louisville player since the 2017-18 season. No other Louisville guard has tallied more than 17 rebounds in a single game in program history.
