Hopkinsville Water Environment Authority is asking people to limit their water usage, as they are experiencing unusually high-water demand due to the frigid temperatures.
According to a news release, officials believe the increased demand to be due to leaks caused by pipes that have burst due to the extremely cold temperatures, as well as the typical holiday increase in customer need. They are requesting that all HWEA customers conserve water as much as possible.
They advise that with the sub-zero wind chills no longer present, it is no longer necessary to drip faucets, and it’s possible even more leaks will be reported as the temperatures rise above freezing.
If you see or experience a water leak, contact the HWEA office at 270-887-4246 at once so they can investigate. They thank their costumers for their understanding and apologize for any inconveniences this may cause.
