Update:
TVA says the blackouts are no longer needed. There is also no longer a request to conserve energy.
TVA has again asked its providers, including Pennyrile Electric and HES, to implement rolling blackouts in an effort to reduce the load on its taxed system.
That means the utilities are shutting off circuits for 15 to 30 minutes, turning them back on and moving to the next circuits until everyone in their footprint has had an outage and then the process starts over until TVA says the blackouts are no longer needed.
The temporary outages will rotate among circuits throughout the city and Pennyrile footprint. They are taking one circuit offline for 15-30 minutes, then restoring power to that circuit, then taking the next circuit offline for 15-30 minutes.
Once all circuits have had one temporary outage, they will start the process over again.
In the city, if your power goes off for 15 minutes, it should be at least 2 hours before HES cycle back around to your circuit again.
These outages will continue until TVA contacts the providers and has lifted their load curtailment request.
Kentucky Utilities, which serves Crofton and several other area counties, began the process off rolling blackouts last night.
