There will be a special called meeting of the Christian County School Board on Wednesday, as there are nine candidates to be considered to fill the vacant District 4 board member seat.
According to a news release, those nine candidates are Caleb Ballard, Desma Blount, Amy Falco, Gary Haile, Linda Keller, Delinda Norrid, Rebecca Pepper, Thomas Parker, and Michael Thompson. At the special called meeting that starts at 4 p.m. Wednesday, board members will review applications and will decide whether to appoint an applicant, interview candidates, or take no further action.
If they take no action, the decision goes to the Kentucky Department of Education Commissioner, Dr. Jason Glass, who would appoint a candidate.
If a candidate is selected from the current pool of applicants, the candidate would take office immediately and be sworn in during the January 5th meeting.
Superintendent Chris Bentzel says, “There is a good process in place and I trust the Board will work hard to see the right candidate is selected to fill the seat. I am looking forward to working with the new district 4 representative.”
The superintendent reportedly has no hand in the decision, and will not attend the meeting Wednesday.
