(Undated)  — College basketball returns tomorrow.  The Cardinals finally notched a win on the season after beating Western Kentucky.  Louisville improved to 1-and-9 and will host Florida A&M.  Memphis dropped to 8-and-3 following a loss to 5th-ranked Alabama.  The Tigers entertain Texas A&M.  Tennessee improved to 9-and-1 after beating 13th-ranked Maryland.  The 7th-ranked Vols are on the road playing Number-9 Arizona.  Kentucky is 7-and-2 after beating Yale.  The 13th-ranked Wildcats host Number-14 UCLA. Coverage begins on 98.7 Lite FM at 2:30. Vanderbilt fell to 5-and-5 following a loss to Grambling.  The Commodores will play NC State on the road.

Kentucky Plays Host to Murray State, Florida Gulf Coast in Weekend Doubleheader

The University of Kentucky women’s basketball program will play host to Murray State on Friday, Dec. 16 at 7 p.m. ET on SEC Network, with Brenda VanLengen and Holly Warlick on the call. Kentucky will turn around and play host to NR/RV Florida Gulf Coast on Sunday, Dec. 18 at 1 p.m. ET on SEC Network+, with Jeff Piecoro and Christi Thomas on the call. Both games will be inside Memorial Coliseum.

Lady Toppers Lock In For Second Straight Win

WKU women’s basketball has won back-to-back games with a 58-51 win at Indiana State on Thursday afternoon in Terre Haute, Indiana. Down eight with 2:17 left in the third quarter, the Lady Toppers (3-5) outscored the Sycamores (3-4) 22-7 in the final 12:17 of the game to claim the victory. Hope Sivori had a season high 22 points in the game on 5-9 shooting from beyond the arc. Teresa Faustino and Acacia Hayes each had eight points. Odeth Betancourt had 10 rebounds, a new career high. Mya Meredith added five points and six rebounds. The Lady Toppers improve to 3-1 on the season when holding teams below 60 points. WKU is 29-6 under Collins when achieving the feat. It was Collins’ 70th win as head coach at WKU.

Rivalry with APSU Renewed in Popeye’s Battle of the Border

The Murray State Racers (6-4) and Austin Peay Governors (6-5) play the next chapter in the Popeye’s Battle of the Border. Game time is set for 6 p.m. Friday at the CFSB Center in Murray, Ky. The game marks the 135th meeting between the two since their first game in 1941. MSU has won the last two and 12 of the last 13. Although the two teams are in different conferences, the rivalry remains the same as officials from each university felt that it was important to keep this series going. As a founding member of the Ohio Valley Conference, the Racers are in their first season in the Missouri Valley Conference, while APSU has joined the ASUN Conference. From 1963-2022 (59 seasons), the Racers and Govs were members of the OVC.

Racers Travel to Lexington to Take On ‘Cats

The Murray State women’s basketball team will travel to the heart of the Commonwealth Friday to take on Kentucky at Memorial Coliseum in Lexington at 7 p.m. ET/6 p.m. CT. Friday will be the 21st meeting between Murray State and Kentucky, with the Wildcats holding a decisive 18-2 advantage in the series. Kentucky has won each of the last 16 meetings in the overall series and the last eight in Lexington, where the Racers have won just once.
