>>Report: Cardinals Remain In On Rodon

(St. Louis, MO)  — The St. Louis Cardinals are still pursuing the best remaining starting pitcher on the free agent market.  The New York Post is reporting that Carlos Rodon would prefer to sign with the Yankees, but that the Cardinals are one of three other known teams that are still trying to acquire the ace.  The other two teams in the running are the Minnesota Twins and the San Francisco Giants.  The 30-year-old went 14-and-8 with a 2.88 ERA with San Francisco in 2022.

>>Former Cardinals Pitcher Simmons Dies

(Ambler, PA)  — Former Cardinals starting pitcher Curt Simmons is dead at the age of 93.  Simmons died of unspecified causes at his Pennsylvania home yesterday.  Simmons spent most of his career with the Philadelphia Phillies before signing with the Cardinals during the 1960 season.  He played with St. Louis until 1966, and he helped bring a World Series championship to the city in 1964.

>>Cubs Add Minor League Free Agent

(Chicago, IL)  — The Cubs are adding some organizational depth in the outfield.  The team signed center fielder Ben DeLuzio to a minor league contract yesterday.  The deal includes an invitation to spring training.  The 28-year-old made his MLB debut with St. Louis last season, and he hit .150 in 22 games.  In other team news, the Cubs lost out on Carlos Correa after the free agent shortstop signed a 13-year deal with the Giants yesterday.
