A Lyon County teen has been arrested for allegedly stealing a gun, trying to solicit other people to shoot two of his relatives and for starting a house fire.
The investigation began when the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a possible threat where a juvenile may attempt to bring a gun to school.
Police and Lyon County School System personnel met with the student as he arrived at school Wednesday and interviewed him, with two other students detained to obtain additional information, according to a news release.
Investigation revealed the 16-year old male had allegedly stolen a handgun off-campus and while he didn’t bring it to school, he had attempted to solicit two people to assassinate or shoot two of his relatives.
Police say deputies believe the threat to the family members was legitimate and imminent.
He is charged with two counts of solicitation to commit assault in the first-degree and one count of theft by unlawful taking for those incidents.
Further investigation brought about evidence that led to the 16-year old being charged with arson in connection with a November 30 fire that destroyed a home in his neighborhood.
