Kentucky Holds Off Michigan in London, 73-69

Engaged in a tight game against Michigan at O2 Arena, No. 19 Kentucky needed a spark. So the Cats, naturally, turned to a player who seems to almost always make good things happen. While most would assume that the player in question would be defending National Player of the Year Oscar Tshiebwe. However, on Sunday that player was freshman Cason Wallace. Cats opened the second half on an 8-1 run. All eight of the points were scored by Wallace, on a pair of three-point baskets and a jump shot. Wallace had 14 points to lead the Cats. Wallace added eight rebounds and five assists in the victory.

Walker Leads Cats Past UNC Greensboro

The Kentucky women’s basketball team had three players in double figures on Sunday as the Cats beat UNC Greensboro 82-56 at Memorial Coliseum. Jada Walker had 20 points and four assists and Robyn Benton had 14 points for the Cats. Ajae Petty recorded a double-double, with 10 points and 12 rebounds. UK’s defense played a major factor during the entire game, as they forced 24 UNCG turnovers – 12 of them being steals. They recorded 29 points off these turnovers. The Cats held the Spartans to 23 of 67 (34.3 percent) from the floor, including four of 14 (28.6 percent) from beyond the arc.

Cards Drop ACC Opener to Miami

Louisville men’s basketball struggled with turnovers and interior defense Sunday against Miami, falling 80-53 in its ACC opener at the KFC Yum! Center. The Cardinals (0-8) committed 19 turnovers and were outscored 44-26 in the paint by the Hurricanes (8-1), who shot 50% from the field, including 58.1% in the first half.

#18/15 Cardinals Drop Road Contest to Middle Tennessee, 67-49

The No. 18/15 Louisville women’s basketball team dropped its second game in a row to Middle Tennessee, 67-49, Sunday evening at the Murphy Center. The Cardinals (5-4) held a three-point lead after the first quarter but shooting woes plagued them the rest of the game as they fell to the Blue Raiders (5-2). Olivia Cochran led the way for the Cardinals with a team-high 14 points and added seven rebounds. Hailey Van Lith tallied her second-straight double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. It is Van Lith’s third double-double of the season and the fourth of her career. Chrislyn Carr was the third Cardinal in double figures with 10 points, the fourth time in her last four games she has scored 10 points or more. Savannah Wheeler led the way for the Blue Raiders with a game-high 23 points. Courtney Whitson was also in double figures for Middle Tennessee with 16 points.

Scrappy Racers Score Overtime Win At Valparaiso

The Murray State Racers (5-3, 2-0 MVC) brought home a 77-70 overtime win Sunday over the Valparaiso Beacons for a 2-0 beginning to their first season in the Missouri Valley Conference. At the Athletics-Recreation Center in Valparaiso, Indiana, MSU won their second-straight overtime game this week and their first road win in the 2022-23 season. Rob Perry’s 30-point scoring day for the Racers included a pair of clutch 3-point baskets, one (with 1:37 remaining) made sure the game would get to overtime and the other, the game winner with 41-seconds on the clock. Perry scored nine of MSU’s 15 points in the extra time. Jamari Smith added 18 points and JaCobi Wood 10 points. Smith and Quincy Anderson led the Racers each with seven rebounds.

Racers Silence Screaming Eagles For Fourth Straight Win

The Murray State women’s basketball team picked up its fourth win in a row Saturday afternoon with a 77-59 victory over Southern Indiana at the CFSB Center in Murray, Kentucky.

Austin Peay blitzes TSU in second half for 77-61 win

Cameron Copeland was the only change to Austin Peay State University’s lineup to begin the second half, but it was the most impactful. Copeland and Elijah Hutchins-Everett combined to outscore Tennessee State 30-25 after halftime, and Saturday’s “Red Out” turned into a whitewash following the Governors’ 77-61 win. Austin Peay (4-5) closed the series in the Winfield Dunn Center winning five-straight, including four by 15 points or more, and 33-9 all-time. The Governors, who snapped a three-game skid overall, have won four of the last five meetings and scored their largest win in the last seven matchups.

(Undated)  — Tennessee is now 7-and-1 following a 94-40 blowout win over Alcorn State.  The Vols will play Eastern Kentucky on Wednesday. Memphis is coming off a win over Ole Miss and is now 6-and-2.  The Tigers entertain Little Rock tomorrow.  Vanderbilt recently beat Wofford to improve to 4-and-4.  The Commodores host Pittsburgh on Wednesday.
