Western Kentucky dodges severe weather bullet

Western Kentucky avoided the worst of severe weather that ravaged parts of the south Tuesday night.

Southern Todd County was briefly under a severe thunderstorm warning a little after 5:30 p.m., but Emergency Management Director Daniel Smith said he did not receive any reports associated with the storm.

A cloudy and rainy afternoon likely de-energized the atmosphere and helped keep storms that came in the evening from being as strong as cells in Tennessee, Alabama and Mississippi.

The impact of the cold front now is high temperatures in the 40’s for a couple days and low’s in the 20’s the next two nights.
