A Trigg County Grand Jury on Wednesday charged Trigg County Sheriff Aaron Acree with four Class A Misdemeanor counts.
Acree is charged with one count of assault in the fourth degree, two counts of first-degree official misconduct and one count of third-degree terroristic threatening.
Acree is accused of pushing a woman to the floor and grabbing her hair on January 11 of this year at the sheriff’s department in Cadiz and also allegedly committed official misconduct by having the Trigg County jailer transport her to his office before the alleged assault occurred.
The charging document alleges he committed terroristic threatening the same day when threatened to kill the same victim.
That woman had been arrested by Cadiz police on second-degree burglary and drug possession charges earlier the same day for allegedly breaking into the home of Sheriff Acree, according to jail records.
The second count of official misconduct comes from an alleged March 1 incident when he’s accused of renting a hotel room at Lake Barkley Resort State Park free of charge representing it to be for a drug transaction, while it was actually alleged to have been for personal use.
The investigation was conducted by special prosecutor Clayton Adams wand the charges were remanded to Trigg District Court.
