It’s been several months since any type of severe weather outbreak in Western Kentucky, but that may come to an end late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning.
The entire region is under a slight risk for severe weather during that time period, with damaging winds, large hail and tornadoes all possible.
While the ingredients may be in place for severe storms as we transition from November to December, Justin Gibbs with the National Weather Service in Paducah says they aren’t expecting anything like the tornado outbreak from December 10 and 11 of last year.
The event is still over 36 hours away, so much could change and the area could avoid severe weather altogether.
The most important advice from the weather service is staying informed between now and then and being sure you have a way to receive any potential warnings—especially overnight.
