About 115 million Americans were expected to shop on Black Friday.
That’s according to the National Retail Federation, which says Friday is expected to be busiest shopping day of the Thanksgiving holiday weekend by far. The next busiest day is expected to be Cyber Monday when almost 64-million people are projected to shop.
But before Monday, people are encouraged to support local businesses and entrepreneurs by taking part in Shop Small Saturday. Many local businesses are taking part in both Black Friday and Shop Small Saturday, and they’re have deals that continue through both days. The Downtown Renaissance District is partnering with J. Schrecker Jewelry for the season’s final downtown Stroll, Sip & Shop event that will begin at 10 a.m. and run until 1 p.m. Be sure to stop by J. Schrecker Jewelry for free canvas tote bags that will be available while supplies last.
Participants can also register for gift certificates from local businesses there.
Additional festivities commence at 10 a.m. at the downtown farmers market in Founders Square. This is the first of two Christmas Market on the Square series that will be held this winter and will feature a number of vendors and activities.
