There will be swearing-in ceremonies late next month for elected county officials and their staffs as they prepare for the next term.
Christian Circuit Judge John Atkins says while the ceremonies are usually on the first Sunday of the year, that’s New Year’s Day in 2023, so it will instead be Thursday, December 29.
New family court judge Katherine Demps will be sworn in at 1 p.m. and then other elected officials and their staffs at 3 at the Christian County Justice Center.
Judge Atkins is asking any elected officials to call his office to help schedule the ceremonies and to coordinate the appearance of their staffs, when necessary.
The swearing-in process is required for newly elected and re-elected officials.
