>>MLB Announces Rookie of Year Awards

(Undated)  — Major League Baseball is announcing this year’s Rookie of the Year awards.  For the National League, Braves outfielder Michael Harris the Second took the award.  He bested Atlanta pitcher Spencer Strider and Cardinals third baseman Brendan Donovan.  Harris was the ninth player in Braves team history to earn the award and the first since Ronald Acuña Jr.

>>Donovan Finishes in Third Place for Rookie of the Year

(St. Louis, MO)  –Cardinals utility man Brendan Donovan’s terrific first season will not end with the National League Rookie of the Year award.  The MLB announced that Donovan finished third-place in the award voting behind a pair of Braves players.  Outfield Michael Harris-the-second won the award, and starting pitcher Spencer Strider came in second place.  Donovan racked up 24 third-place votes, and no votes for first or second-place.  The 25-year-old hit .281 with five home runs and 45 RBI, and he also won a Gold Glove award as a utility player.

>>Cubs Cut Heyward

(Chicago, IL)  — The Chicago Cubs are officially parting ways with one of the final members of their 2016 World Series squad.  The team released outfielder Jason Heyward Monday.  The team announced in August that it would be moving on from Heyward in the offseason, and the outfielder didn’t play in the final three months of the season.  The 33-year-old spent seven seasons with the Cubs, and he hit .204 with one home run and ten RBI last season.

>>Reds Will Play Athletics in Vegas for ST

(Las Vegas, NV)  — The Reds will be playing a couple of Spring Training games in Las Vegas.  The team is set to play the Athletics on March 4th and 5th from Las Vegas Ballpark.  The games will come as the A’s General Manager says the team is continuing to push for a new stadium in the San Francisco Bay Area.
