November is National Diabetes Awareness Month

November is National Diabetes Awareness Month and health officials are urging folks to practice healthy habits and to stay on top of their own blood sugar numbers.

Kelly Dawes is a certified diabetes educator for the Pennyrile District Health Department in Trigg County and says being overweight and inactive are risk factors for developing diabetes.

Dawes says you can still live a healthy life as a diabetic or pre-diabetic if you make decisions to eat better and to become more active.

For more information about diabetes or on where and when you can get your blood sugar levels tested, call Dawes at 270-522-8121 Extension 212.
