Around the Diamond (Easton McGee Update)

>>Easton McGee traded to Seattle

The Boston Red Sox today traded right-handed pitcher Easton McGee to the Seattle Mariners, in exchange for cash considerations. Chief Baseball Officer Chaim Bloom made the announcement. McGee, 24, did not pitch in a game for the Red Sox, who claimed the right-hander off waivers from the Tampa Bay Rays on October 5. He pitched in one game for the Rays in 2022, three innings, allowing one unearned run, but spent most of the season with Triple-A Durham, making 27 appearances (22 starts) and going 6-9 with a 5.43 ERA (65 ER/107.2 IP).

>> Goldschmidt Earns Hank Aaron Award 

(St. Louis, MO)  — Cardinals first baseman Paul Goldschmidt is being honored as the best offensive player in the National League.  The MLB named Goldschmidt the NL Hank Aaron Award Winner.  The 35-year-old hit .317 with 35 home runs and 115 RBI in 2022.  New York’s Aaron Judge won the award in the American League.

>>Cardinals Trade for Fermin 

(St. Louis, MO)  — The St. Louis Cardinals are adding some depth on the infield.  The team acquired minor league infielder Jose Fermin from the Cleveland Guardians yesterday in exchange for cash.  The Cardinals then placed Fermin on their 40-man roster.  Fermin hit .215 with six home runs and 11 RBI at Triple-A Columbus last year.
