Dedication ceremony, legacy celebration held for memorial pavers, future pathway

A celebration of legacy and a paver dedication ceremony was held at Christian Care Communities Thursday afternoon, as they prepare to construct a new garden and pathway.

Part of the construction will include a path way made of memory pavers, tagged with the names of loved ones, organizations and more that either called the center home or embodied its ideals in some way. CEO Mary Lynn Spalding says she hopes this is just the first of many such dedications, as they look to honor those who mean so much to their community.

Executive Director Paul Shepard says the pavers represent those who have passed, those who support the mission of Christian Care Health, and more.

Spalding says the initiative would not be possible without the generosity of Louise and Warren Cornell, who made and continue to make big impacts in the area.

Pavers can still be purchased—with about 25 making up the first round of stones to go into the memorial—by contacting Christian Care Communities and calling 502-254-4259. The deadline to purchase is June 30 annually, with more dedication ceremonies set for the future to make sure each one gets its due.

Concrete was being poured for the future pathway during the ceremony itself, where the pavers will one day rest for all to see.
