WKU Opens Season at Eastern Kentucky Thursday Night

WKU Hilltopper Basketball will officially be underway with its season on Thursday night as it takes on Eastern Kentucky in Richmond, Ky., at 6 p.m. CT. The game will stream live on ESPN+. WKU defeated Montevallo 93-65 and Georgetown College 88-68. EKU opened its season with a 137-52 win over Miami (OH)-Middletown on Monday night at home. Cardinals Fall to Bellarmine in Season Opener Despite Late Rally

Despite a furious rally in the final minutes, the University of Louisville men’s basketball team fell to Bellarmine 67-66 on Wednesday in its season opener at the KFC Yum! Center. The Cardinals (0-1) held Bellarmine scoreless for the final 4:41 of the game and finished on an 11-0 run, but were unable to ever reclaim the advantage. Coming in the Cardinals had won 17 straight openers and 21 straight home openers. They were also 12-0 against Bellarmine all time.

Kentucky Women’s Basketball Signs Four-Star Guard Jordy Griggs

The University of Kentucky women’s basketball program inked an athletic and versatile guard to its incoming class during the early signing period Wednesday. Jordy Griggs of Moreno Valley, California, will join the program in the fall of 2023. Griggs, a 6-2 guard, is a four-star prospect by ESPN.com. In January, she was named the 2022 She Got Game Classic Most Valuable Player after scoring 33 points and grabbing 23 rebounds in the game. Last summer, Griggs was one of 34 athletes invited to the 2021 USA U16 Trials. Griggs, attended Osborne High School in Marietta, Georgia, as a junior in 2021-22. There, she was named to the region six first team after recording 21.0 points per game, 9.6 rebounds per game, 2.5 steals per game, 2.5 blocks per game and 2.3 assists per game through 25 games. She will begin her senior season at Montverde Academy in Montverde, Florida, this winter, a team that is coming off of the 2022 GEICO High School Nationals championship title. Cardinals Set to Host IUPUI

Coming off the 87-68 season-opening win over Cincinnati, the Cardinals are back in action on Thursday as they host IUPUI at the KFC Yum! Center. Thursday’s contest will close out a quick two-game homestand before the Cardinals have their next four games away from home.The Cardinals are hosting the Kroger Food Drive, benefiting the Commonwealth Credit Union Cardinal Cupboard on UofL’s campus, Thursday night against IUPUI. Fans that bring non-perishable food items to the arena on Friday will receive the chance to purchase a discounted $5 ticket for the game against Longwood on November 25.

Racers Begin 2022-23 Season At Home with CBU

The Murray State women’s basketball team will officially begin its 2022-23 campaign Thursday when it hosts Christian Brothers at 11 a.m. at the CFSB Center in Murray, Kentucky for its annual Community Kids game.
