Oak Grove will have a new mayor come January, as Jackie Oliver has unseated incumbent Theresa Jarvis.
Oliver beat Jarvis by134 votes, and she told WHOP News she intends to focus on cleaning up Oak Grove and make sure local government focuses on the citizens.
Oliver says she also intends to fix the problems that she feels have driven away Buc-ee’s, as she says they will now locate a mega-store near Exit 1 in Clarksville instead of Oak Grove.
Oliver will have an Oak Grove City Council comprised of Janet Edwards, Richard Baker, Edward Cook, John Campbell, Isaiah Spencer and Jean Leavell, as they were the top six voter-getters on the ballot Tuesday.
In other cities in the county, Lafayette City Commission will be comprised of Timothy Hancock, Stephen Stites, Sandra Torries and Norman Banks, who were the top four vote-getters.
Then in Pembroke, that City Commission will be represented by Whitley Grace, Karen Mitchell Pyle, Walter Bell and Joe Rives, the tops vote winners in that community.
In the contested county constable races, Sherry Byerline beat James “Gene” Glass in District 6, Josh Gydesen won over Thomas Gilliland III, Glenn Rickard defeated James “Jim” Smith and Mike Haddock won in District 8 against Joshua Newton.
