Polls close at 6 p.m. on General Election

Time is winding down on this General Election Day and a good turnout has been reported across the area.

Christian County Clerk Mike Kem says there have been lines at most of Christian County’s 16 voting centers and only a very few minor issues that didn’t cause any delays in voting.

There are 16 centers open today where any registered voter in Christian County can vote. Those locations are Bruce Convention Center, the courthouse, senior center, Oak Grove Community Center, Indian Hills Elementary, New Barren Springs Church, New Palestine Baptist Church, Friendship House, Sinking Fork Baptist Church, Pembroke Baptist Church, Crofton City Hall, South Christian Elementary, Walnut Street Center, Concord Baptist Church, Cedar Grove Baptist Church and Hopkinsville Middle School.

Trigg County Clerk had predicted a turnout of about 35 percent and said late in the afternoon that they may surpass that number by the time polls close at 6 p.m.

There are seven voting centers in Trigg County—Cerulean Fire Department, East Golden Pond Fire Department, the EOC, South Road Fire Department, Trigg County Recreation Complex, Trigg-Lyon Fire Department and The Way.

Todd County Clerk Cindy O’Bryan reported a few minor issues with machines, but all of the votes were able to be properly counted and they didn’t cause any major delays.

Todd County has maintained its 13 traditional precinct locations this year.

The Attorney General’s Office Election Fraud Hotline received two complaints of possible electioneering during the absentee and early voting periods in Christian County and fielded one legal question. As of 2:30 p.m., the hotline had received an Election Day complaint of possible electioneering and one procedural question in Christian County.
