Indictments returned for rape, assault, abuse

The Christian County Grand Jury returned multiple indictments for assault, rape, attempted rape and more Friday.

Indicted for second-degree rape, unlawful transaction with a minor under 16 years of age, distribution of obscene matter to a minor, possession of matter of a sex performance by a minor, promoting a sexual performance by a minor under 16 years of age and use of a minor under 16 years of age in a sexual performance is 23-year-old Jamiroquai Weaver of Hopkinsville.  He is alleged to have engaged in sexual contact with a minor under the age of 14 in May 2022 and been in possession of videos depicting said acts.

Indicted for first-degree attempted rape, unlawful imprisonment, strangulation and intimidating a participant in the legal process is 52-year-old Anthony McGoggle of Hopkinsville. He is accused of forcing a woman to take her clothes off in August, placing his hands on the victim’s throat and attempting to suffocate the woman while demanding sexual favors at a bridge near the rail trail near West Ninth and Seventh Streets. He also reportedly took the victim’s phone and threw it in an attempt to keep her from calling police.

Twenty-one-year-old Gilberto Gomez of Hopkinsville was indicted for second-degree assault domestic violence after he allegedly struck a woman in the head with a baseball bat after becoming angry when she would not continue to consume alcohol with him.

Also indicted for second-degree assault domestic violence and fourth-degree assault is 32-year-old Coty Flynn of Hopkinsville, who is alleged to have body slammed a woman in September, causing her to briefly pass out and causing head and neck injuries that required evaluation at Jennie Stuart Medical Center.

When a juvenile in the home attempted to intervene, Flynn allegedly grabbed her by the hair and slung her to the floor, causing minor injuries to the child.

Twenty-four-year-old Detaveon Day of Hopkinsville was indicted for first-degree criminal abuse—he is alleged to have intentionally abuse a minor child under the age of twelve, thereby placing him in a situation that may cause serious physical injury.
