The man charged in connection with a stabbing from January accepted a plea deal in Christian Circuit Court Wednesday afternoon.
Joshua Rush was indicted for first-degree assault, but he entered an Alford plea to the amended charge of assault under extreme emotional disturbance, which comes with a recommended sentence of two years. Judge Andrew Self accepted his plea and set final sentencing for December 21.
An Alford plea is a guilty plea where a defendant maintains their innocence, but acknowledges there is likely enough evidence to result in a conviction should the case go to trial.
Rush was in a physical altercation with a male victim who he stabbed in the right ear with a knife on January 28, causing serious physical injury.
