UHA Cross Country Coach Talks State Appearance

For those who may not know, the University Heights Cross Country team this past weekend participated at the state meet.

While they did not win, several members and the team performed quite well.

Cole Glover finished in the top fifty, while Cam Brown and Trey Wallace joined him in the top one hundred. Well Wallace technically was one hundred and one, but still right?

Anyway, Ryan Luckey finished at spot one hundred and seventy, but did run a personal best on an extremely difficult course as well.

Finally Jude Finch, only an eighth grader, finished at number two hundred and fifty one.

In total there were two hundred and seventy nine runners. That means place top fifty, or even top on hundred places you in the top one-third of the state. For Glover, who also was dealing with a nagging injury, it means the top one-fifth, give or take, of the state.

The team as a whole finished twenty-fourth out of thirty-six teams.

Head Coach Carter Hendricks, yes former Mayor turned Executive Director at Southwestern Kentucky Economic Development Council, that Carter Hendricks, was kind enough to speak with me for ten minutes about the team and the season.

As you can hear he was extremely proud of his team and encourages young athletes to get involved.

We will catch up with his wife, Faye Hendricks, the Head Volleyball Coach at UHA Wednesday to discuss their incredible season in which they made it all the way to the region semifinals.
