>>Adam Wainwright Returning To Cardinals for 2023 Season
(Undated) — The Cardinals aren’t losing Adam Wainwright to retirement after all. St. Louis team president John Mozeliak announced Wednesday that the right-hander informed the team he will be returning for the 2023 season. Wainwright signed a one-year, 17.5-million dollar contract with the Cardinals last season and posted an 11-and-12 record with a 3.71 ERA through 32 starts. The 41-year-old is just five wins away from reaching 200 career victories on the mound. Wainwright debuted for St. Louis in 2005.
>>Cardinals Losing Two More Coaches
(St. Louis, MO) — The Cardinals will have a new-look coaching staff heading into the second season of Oli Marmol’s managerial tenure. The team announced yesterday that hitting coach Jeff Albert and pitching coach Mike Maddux will not be coming back to the team in 2023. Team president John Mozeliak says that the Cardinals wanted to bring the pair back, but they each decided to move on. The news comes a day after bench coach Skip Schumaker was hired away to manage Miami Marlins. The Cardinals are also reassigning bullpen coach Bryan Eversgerd to another role in the organization.
