(Miami, FL) — Former major leaguer Skip Schumaker is taking over as the new manager of the Miami Marlins. The two-time World Series champion spent the 2022 season as the Cardinals’ bench coach after four seasons as an assistant with the San Diego Padres. This is the first time that Schumaker will manager a team. The 42-year-old replaces Don Mattingly, whose contract was not renewed at the end of the season. Mattingly served as Miami’s manager for seven seasons and is the franchise’s all-time leader in wins.
