Former eatery employee accused of stealing over $10,000

A Christian County Grand Jury will soon hear charges against a Hopkinsville man accused of stealing over $10,000 from Little Caesars Pizza while an employee and falsifying records in an attempt to cover it up.

The original arrest citation for 31-year old Carlin Dillard of Hopkinsville says he was employed between January 8, 2021 and August 1 of this year and he had access to the safe during that time. He’s also accused of entering the store after hours on three occasions after his employment ended to steal money and he was reportedly unsuccessful in a fourth attempt.

Hopkinsville police say there were 79 individual instances and that he would alter the financial records to defraud the business.

Dillard admitted to stealing several hundred dollars, but denied it being an ongoing issue, according to the report.

The case was sent to the grand jury following a preliminary hearing Wednesday morning in Christian District Court.

He’s charged with felony theft (over $10,000), 79 counts of falsifying business records, third-degree burglary and attempted third-degree burglary.
