Most of Western Kentucky, including Christian County, remains under a burn ban, and that includes some burning that would normally be allowed in the city of Hopkinsville.
Lt. Payton Rogers with the Hopkinsville Fire Department says even small bon fires are included in the burn ban, as a spark could cause a major incident.
He says several communities across the region and country have had large fires start with what would be normal incidents outside of the dry conditions.
If you see any type of fire in the city, Rogers says call ECC and firefighters will put it out and educate residents about the burn ban.
Burn bans are also in effect in Todd, Trigg, Muhlenberg, Hopkins and most other adjoining counties.
