Local movie theater under new ownership, to undergo renovations

Hopkinsville’s only movie theater is under new ownership.

Shane and Aubrie Pollock finalized the purchase of WK Cinemas Friday and will be changing the name to The Showbox.

The theater will remain open through the holidays, but will close in January for renovations, with a reopening expected in May.

Shane Pollock says they “plan on a complete renovation to include: luxury recliner seating, privacy pods in the dinner theater, themes designed by Bob Lancaster Designs, and each theater will have its own look, theme, and name.”

He says they will open the lobby for a grand entrance, there will be all new concessions to include a full bar and lounge and a dinner theater.

The Showbox will play traditional Hollywood movies and during slower periods it will have live music, comedy, and cooking demonstrations.

Pollock hopes they can hold video game tournaments and movie marathons as well.
