Barion Brown Named SEC co-Freshman of the Week — Again

Once might be considered an accident, twice a coincidence but three times is a pattern. Kentucky freshman Barion Brown was named the Southeastern Conference co-Freshman of the Week for the second consecutive week after racking up 245 all-purpose yards on just five touches on the road against then-No. 14 Ole Miss, the league announced Monday. He also was previously named SEC Special Teams Player of the Week after the season opener. He is the first Wildcat to win a SEC weekly award three times in a single season since Lynn Bowden Jr. in 2019.

Bauer Earns Third C-USA Setter of the Week Award

DALLAS, Texas — Conference USA announced volleyball’s weekly award winners Monday, after WKU took a perfect weekend in three-set sweeps over FIU and Charlotte inside Diddle Arena. Setter Callie Bauer was noted for her performance, gaining conference and national recognition. The redshirt-freshman who leads the conference in assists per set (10.85), is settled in at 14th in the country in total assists (586) and assists per set, while picking up 60 more helpers against FIU and Charlotte in conference action.

Kam Thomas named ASUN Special Teams Player of the Week

ATLANTA – After breaking the longest punt return in Austin Peay State University history, Kam Thomas has been named the ASUN Conference Special Teams Player of the Week, Monday. Thomas fielded a punt at the Central Arkansas eight-yard line on the final play of the third quarter and returned it 92 yards for a touchdown. The return is tied for the longest in Division I football this season. The punt return for a touchdown was the first by a Governor since Tee Howell took a punt 65 yards to the house against Central State in 2011. The 92-yard return also topped Terrence Holt’s 71-yard punt return for a touchdown against Tennessee State in 2009 for the longest in Austin Peay history.

Hardy Takes MVC Freshman of the Week

Freshman midfielder Mary Hardy was named the Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Week after helping power the Racers to their first-ever MVC win in a 3-1 victory over Indiana State. Hardy scored the game-winning goal for Murray State while assisting on the Racers third and final goal of the match. The Ballwin, Mo. native also played a big role in the Racers 1-1 draw against UIC on October 2 with two shots on goal and 65 minutes played versus the Flames. Hardy has collected two goals and two assists on the season in her debut campaign while leading the team in points with six. Starting all 12 games for MSU, she has logged over 1000 minutes while putting up eight shots on goal.

Emma Grome Named SEC Setter of the Week

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky Volleyball sophomore setter Emma Grome was named the Southeastern Conference’s setter of the week, the league office announced Monday afternoon. For Grome, it is her second SEC setter of the week award of the year.
