Hopkinsville Community College hosted a grand opening and ribbon-cutting Saturday for its Flexible Training Center.
Hopkinsville Community College, Christian County Public Schools and Christian County Chamber collaborated to submit a Work Ready Skills Initiative grant proposal, which was funded by the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet for nearly $4.3 million in 2017.
Those funds were used to more than double the size of the existing welding training facility to create the Flexible Training Center, which provides classrooms and labs for Welding Technology, Diesel Technology and Truck Driver Training.
HCC officials say while these programs have already served hundreds of students, these spaces were built so that space can easily be modified to meet future workforce programming needs.
The ceremony was followed by HCC’s Pathfinder Car Cruise-In.
