A Hopkinsville man was arrested for felony assault early Saturday morning after he allegedly struck his fiancé with a baseball bat.
An arrest citation says the victim told Hopkinsville police that 21-year old Gilberto Gomez became angry when she said she wasn’t going to keep drinking alcohol with him and that a physical altercation ensued and Gomez kicked her out of the home on South Jessup Street.
The victim grabbed a baseball bat that she said she was using as a scare tactic to allow her to be able to get her sleeping infant child from the home, but that’s when Gomez allegedly took the bat and struck her on the head.
Police say the woman had a knot on her head and complained of nausea and dizziness and she was taken by EMS to Jennie Stuart Medical Center.
Gomez was arrested and charged with assault in the first degree.
