Campaign season is in full swing as numerous Republican candidates running for various offices, both locally and across the state, made a visit to Christian County Saturday.
Casey Jones was a packed house, as candidates met with community members and discussed their priorities and goals if elected. One of those was U.S. Senator Rand Paul, who is running for re-election to his seat, and says as he’s traveled the state the biggest concern he’s heard from the public is about inflation and the heightened cost of nearly everything.
He says its his goal to continue to focus on lowering the national debt and reigning in overspending if re-elected.
Kentucky Agriculture Commissioner Ryan Quarles is running for governor in 2023 and he agreed that inflation is at the top of everyone’s mind. If elected, he intends to focus on uniting the state and making sure rural Kentucky gets its share.
It is a crowded field of Republican candidates for governor, with still more possible to join the race, but Quarles says that just shows the strength of the Republican party, and he intends to focus on his campaign and stay positive.
Quarles is squaring off with numerous individuals on a primary ballot, including Kelly Craft, Auditor Mike Harmon, Attorney General Daniel Cameron and more, while the incumbent Paul will face democratic challenger Charles Booker in November.
